Liverpool’s new plan to regenerate Ringo Starr’s childhood neighborhood

A new plan to regenerate the Welsh Streets in Liverpool, England, which include the former home of Beatle Ringo Starr, has been unveiled.

Liverpool City Council’s cabinet is set to approve plans to enter a six-month exclusivity agreement with developer Place First, during which it will carry out surveys and investigations before developing a masterplan and submitting a planning application.

It is hoped that a significant proportion of the 300 homes could be refurbished, with some groups of three homes knocked into two properties to make them larger and more appealing to families.

Properties in a very poor condition and too costly to repair would be demolished, with the possibility of community open space and new properties being created in their place.

Place First have a great track record in regenerating old houses and I know they are genuinely excited about what they can do in the Welsh Streets,” said Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson.
