Halfway through 2016, leaders in Youngstown, Ohio say the future of downtown lies in building renovation projects.
NYO Property Group owns nine buildings, including Erie Terminal Place, Wick Tower and the Stambaugh Building.
“It’s incredibly rewarding when you take an existing structure, an historic structure, and bring it back to life,” said Dominic Marchionda, developer and President of NYO Property Group.
Revitalizing the downtown area has been a big goal for Marchionda.
“We’re finding that more and more students want to live downtown, be downtown,” he said.
Now city leaders want the downtown area to take the next step. Not just 9 to 5 or nightlife for students, but a center for culture and recreation 365 days a year.
