On the north side of US 550, just west of the Rio Grande, looms a giant metal structure that will soon be transformed into major micro-brewery and several smaller businesses.

Bosque Brewery Company is looking to complete a major renovation at the old Jackalope building in Bernalillo, New Mexico sometime this year.
The distinctive Jackalope building is about to get a major beer infusion, and some new neighbors, as part of a multi-million dollar redevelopment of the property.
Bosque Brewing is repurposing the former housewares emporium as the start of the new $7 million to $8 million Riverpointe Vistas project that will also bring at least one restaurant, a new Jackalope store, and possibly additional retail.
A significant renovation began in the Spring of 2017, growing from about 10,000 to 15,000 square feet. Bosque will devote most of the space to manufacturing, though it will also have a beer bar, a patio that wraps around the south and east sides and a drive-up spot for food trucks.

The building, 42 feet high at its peak, will have a second level and provide room for additional growth in the future.
“We love this Jackalope building,” said Jotham Michnovicz, Bosque’s director of operations. “We thought it was an iconic New Mexico building, so when the opportunity came to check it out, we just wanted to jump on it and see.”
Since opening their original taproom and brewery in October of 2012, Bosque Brewing has taken New Mexico by storm. They now have two satellite taprooms, numerous expansions, and draft and retail accounts across the state. The Bernalillo expansion is just the latest in what they are hoping will be a long period of rapid growth.
In an August 4, 2017 communication with REVITALIZATION, Michnovicz said “Construction got started last week and things will move quickly from there!”
