Boys & Girls Club building in DC gets a 2nd shot at a 2nd life via citizen-driven RFP

Following months of community pushback, the Department of General Services (DGS) cancelled a flawed request for proposals (RFP) issued last September for the Eastern Branch Boys & Girls Club building at 261 17th St. SE.

It led to a single proposal that was not in keeping with citizens’ vision for the property.

The office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) will take control of the property, just two blocks from the Stadium-Armory Metro, and begin a new RFP process.

Ward 6 Councilman Charles Allen suggested the site be subject to “My RFP,” a new community-driven RFP process created by Mayor Muriel Bowser.
