A £1.3 billion vision to redevelop a huge eyesore: The Sussex (UK) cement works

Ambitious plans have been unveiled to redevelop a derelict cement works on the South Downs in Sussex, England.

The massive quarry near Shoreham closed 25 years ago, and remains a very conspicuous roadside blot on the landscape.

A group called the South Down Project has proposed building over 2000 homes, with a Venice-like river, plus business space on the site.

They estimate the cost to be about £1.3 billion pounds.
