$12.3M redevelopment of historic YMCA for affordable housing in downtown Kenosha

Construction will kick off this fall for the long-planned $12.3 million redevelopment of a historic former YMCA building in downtown Kenosha into apartments.

An Illinois developer will convert the building at 720 59th Place into 46 apartments with the help of several government funding sources.

The project also will use $5.1 million in Wisconsin affordable housing tax credits in exchange for reserving 30 apartments for low-income residents.

The developer also is approved for almost $2 million in WEDC historic restoration tax credits.
