Developer Urbo wants to regenerate the area of Sheffield, England to the north of the law courts — known as the West Bar — and has unveiled a £175 million plan for doing so.
The scheme, known as West Bar Square, is a mix of office space, high quality apartment blocks, a four-star hotel, restaurants, shops and public space.
Urbo has submitted an outline planning application to Sheffield Council.
The firm’s managing director Peter Swallow said: “We’re delighted to move West Bar Square to the next level. It is a very significant development for the city and will create a premier business district to attract major employers.”
Sheffield Council is also playing its part in the regeneration of the area with its Grey to Green planting and drainage scheme, which will soon be complemented by the Love Square pocket park.
And the proposed redevelopment of the Castlegate area along with ongoing construction on Kelham Island should further enhance the area.
