The goal is as playful as it is precise: Have a cool, different park within a 10-minute walk of every child in Missoula, Montana.
The parks are already in place. The cool/different part is up to the community to propose at an open house next week. There’s $1 million available to spend.
A voter-approved bond fund will provide the dollars to renovate Bonner, Franklin, Greenough, McLeod, Northside, Pleasant View, Rainbow, Skyview, Wapikia and Whitaker parks. It will also underwrite an expansion of Silver Summit playground in McCormick Park.
“This is a real investment,” Missoula Parks and Recreation Director Donna Gaukler said. “We want every park to be different.”
