Imagine owning a property worth more than ten times the amount you spent on it – and all without the burden of a mortgage.
That’s the dream scenario 27-year-old Annie Mackinder has found herself in, after she spent £20,000 on a plot of land in Lincolnshire and used it to build a luxury eco-lodge that’s been valued at over £250,000.
Annie dipped into her £70,000 savings to buy the brownfield site in Louth, and used the remaining £50,000 to build the four-bedroom, three-bathroom Raithby Hill Reservoir, which sits in the footprint of a disused reservoir.
Now the assistant producer, who travels extensively for work, has listed her house on Airbnb as a luxury holiday let, available for £245 a night.
It’s billed as “…a totally unique, luxurious eco-house sitting within the hillside. With a bee friendly green roof and far reaching views over the Lincolnshire wolds it is truly one of a kind. With four double bedrooms, three bathrooms, log burner and glamping pod it is great for any event.”
