£30 million regeneration of downtown Port Talbot, Wales shows progress

Progress is being made on the regeneration of Port Talbot, Wales with a number of projects benefiting from £30 million of investment.

As part of the town’s “Vibrant and Viable Places Regeneration Programme“, funding will be provided to schemes in and around the town centre.

The programme is expected to create more than 20 new apprenticeships and contracts for about 100 small to medium-sized Welsh companies across its lifetime.

Lesley Griffiths, minister for communities and tackling poverty, has recently visited the Green Park site, where Coastal Housing has started construction on 34 affordable homes.

She said: “The Vibrant and Viable Places programme is proving to be a game-changer for Port Talbot, transforming the local area.
