£500,000 downtown economic regeneration fund approved for St. Helens, England

The St. Helens (England) Council has given the go-ahead for a £500,000 economic regeneration fund to support the growth of businesses across the borough.

The local authority’s cabinet has approved the plan, with the money set to be used to pay for specialist technical advice and help the council and partners to respond to new opportunities.

One of the fund’s priorities will be supporting a master-planning exercise on the role and function of the town centre.

Council leader Barrie Grunewald said: “This fund will give us the flexibility to respond to economic opportunities as they emerge.
