£7.1 million restoration and redevelopment of historic Leicester, UK factory

The £7.1 million redevelopment of Friars Mill on the River Soar is being led by Leicester (UK) City Council.

Over the past 14 months, contractor William Anelay Ltd has worked to transform the 18th century factory complex into 25,000 square feet of office space.

City Mayor Peter Soulsby said: “Friars Mill is an important part of the city’s industrial heritage and a fascinating collection of buildings that deserved to be saved and brought back into meaningful use. The restoration is in its final stages and the new workspaces are now starting to take shape. This will help provide a real boost to the area. We want Friars Mill to stand as a beacon for the wider regeneration of the Waterside.
