Redevelopment of derelict industrial site for affordable housing in Leicester, UK

Plans to redevelop the dilapidated former Shield Engineering works in Leicester, England are set to be approved.

Developers Westleigh want to build clear the disused industrial and factory buildings from the 6.7 acre site to build 82 homes.

The firm also wants to construct an 80 bed care home and three industrial units.

A council planning spokesman said: “This development would help create much needed affordable housing in this area, provide small industrial units to help employment and provide a care home.
