A new Urban Institute report indicates that property values in some areas can rise when affordable housing is built nearby.

This makes sense, since affordable housing doesn’t just benefit people with low incomes: when properly located (especially near transit) it also boosts local economies in a variety of ways, such as providing employers with accessible workers.
