Cincinnati offers Port Authority $2 million to redevelop derelict, iconic brewery site

Cincinnati, Ohio’s proposed budget for 2017 includes $2 million for the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority to redevelop the old Hudepohl Brewery site in Lower Price Hill.

For years, the Port Authority (which owns the brewery building) has asked for funding, beyond what it receives for its operations from the city and Hamilton County, to launch major redevelopment projects.

“Where we can support Port Authority efforts, we want to do that,” said City Manager Harry Black.

The money would be used for blight remediation, said port spokeswoman Gail Paul.

In order to maximize the productive value of the Hudepohl site, which is only 1.6 acres, it would have to be part of an assembly/complement other development in the area,” she said.
