City of Lynchburg, VA puts $2.3M towards $16.6M restoration of historic theatre

The City of Lynchburg, Virginia has approved $2.3 million to help restore the Academy of Music Theatre.

The campaign is still $4.35 million short of its $16.6 million total.

Thank you to the five members of City Council who recognize the clear economic impact this project will have on our downtown community,” said Academy Campaign Chairman George Dawson.

The motion for approval by Councilman Ceasor Johnson, seconded by Councilwoman Joan Foster, with strong support from Council members Nelson, Gillette and Tweedy, demonstrate their collective vision. With just over $4 million to go, it’s time for all of us to make this happen,” he continued.
