The following announcement was made in April of 2020 by the Society for Ecological Restoration:
Given the serious developments surrounding the novel coronavirus pandemic, however, we are changing plans for both the SER-North America conference – Reclaim, Restore, Rewild (RE3) – scheduled for June 2020 in Québec City, Québec, Canada and the 9th World Conference on Ecological Restoration (SER2021) planned for August 2021 in South Korea.
The SER North American/RE3 conference will be postponed until 2021 and we are pleased to announce that it will be the new venue for the 9th SER World Conference on Ecological Restoration. Moving the world conference venue was a mutual decision with our South Korean partners, and we are all disappointed that we can no longer hold SER2021 there. We are very grateful for our partners in South Korea, and we remain committed to bringing the World Conference to the Asian continent soon.
We are excited, however, to bring the SER World Conference back to North America and to invite the world restoration community to join us in Canada! Convening our international community in Quebec City will bring together even greater diversity of research, experience, and perspective than was already in process for RE3.
SER conferences are an exciting and energizing time for our community to share and come together; our commitment is to continue to offer this experience long into the future.
We are still working out the details regarding existing abstracts (nearly 800 received already), and later in the year we will re-open the calls for proposals and abstracts to broaden global (and regional) participation and scope. We will be making other changes to the conference agenda and program to further internationalize the event as the SER World Conference. Save the dates: 19-24 June 2021!
