Fiji launches $1.6 million Teak reforestation program

Future Forests (Fiji) Ltd (FFF) has won a tender bid as one of the preferred supplier of tree seedlings to the Secretariat of the Pacific Community for the Reforest-Fiji project funded by the EU.

The reforestation initiative will see FFF supplying more than $1.6 million worth of Teak (Tectona grandis) seedlings to the reforestation project in the first two years of program.

This was highlighted in the FFF annual report for the year ended June 30, 2015.

Reforest Fiji project chairman Digby Bossley said this would see SPC working with farmers to produce 7,500,000 seedlings of various species for the establishment of plantations, woodlots and orchards in Fiji.
