Fraser Watershed Restoration Conference — April 24-25, 2019 — Kamloops, BC, Canada

The Fraser Watershed Restoration Conference will take place on April 24-25, 2019 at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.

The iconic Fraser Watershed is suffering an ecological and economic crisis from historical development, forest fires, climate change and other ecological impacts that exacerbate the stresses on salmon, caribou and a myriad of terrestrial and riverine species. This is leading to a decline in natural resources and employment opportunities.

The Fraser Watershed Restoration Conference will bring together Indigenous leaders, industry experts, government representatives, academics, community officials, and conservationists from British Columbia and across North America, who are interested in advancing watershed restoration and reconciliation with First Nations throughout the watershed.

The Fraser Watershed Initiative, host of the conference, is working towards creating a $500 million restoration fund, to initiate the largest restoration project in Canada: restoring the Fraser Watershed. It’s a multi-year project that will require the involvement of people across sectors and throughout the watershed.
