Tifton, Georgia‘s Main Street program, which has been nominated for the America’s Main Streets contest, is asking local citizens and surrounding communities to vote for Tifton.
The Downtown Development Authority of Tifton (DDA) can win up to $25,000 that will be reinvested back in the downtown area.
Tifton’s Economic Development Director Lequrica Gaskins said downtown Tifton has seen a lot of growth.
She said she recently spoke with someone who was interested in opening a business in the downtown area, but their inventory is currently full.
Gaskins attributes the growth to private and public partnerships, and says Tifton is one of the few Georgia cities that has residential units in downtown (which are also currently full).
She adds that they have “effectively utilized the tools of the Main Street approach to leverage revitalization and redevelopment for our downtown.”
