Glasgow neighborhood to revitalize with £4.7 million affordable housing project

Nearly 50 new affordable, energy-efficient new homes will be built in Glasgow, Scotland‘s south side as part of the plan to transform and regenerate the Pollokshaws neighborhood.

In a £4.7 million development by Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) 47 new flats for social rent will be built at Shawbridge.

It’s the latest step in an ongoing plan to transform the area, with Pollokshaws one of eight zones in the city that has been staked out as a priority for regeneration.

The Transforming Communities: Glasgow (TC:G) regeneration plan is being run iby the GHA, Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government, with the latest new homes built by McTaggart Construction and due to be finished in early 2017.

GHA Chair Gordon Sloan said: “We are delighted to be working again with local residents and tenants to bring forward this latest phase of the regeneration of Pollokshaws.
