Historic 1889 warehouse to get $2.5 million renovation as a demolition reuse store

A $2.5 million renovation project will turn a long-vacant furniture warehouse along the Red Cedar River on Lansing’s south side into commercial and retail space.

Developer John Sears bought the former Potter Mill for $550,000 in January 2012, and plans to rehabilitate the 37,500-square-foot building later this year.

We’re going to renovate it into a reuse store for the salvage we get from demolishing places,” said Sears, who owns SC Environmental, which does demolition work for the city and the Ingham County Land Bank.
