Job Opening: Executive Director, Rewilding Britain (Scotland)

Rewilding Britain is looking for a Scotland Director.

We believe rewilding provides hope for the future of people and nature. While we are working across the island of Britain it is clear that it will be vital to take a devolved approach in Scotland, Wales and England.

As a first step we have an opportunity to recruit someone to lead on turning a brilliant but challenging idea into reality within the Scottish context. It will definitely have its challenges but it will also be exciting and varied. And you’ll be at the forefront of developing Rewilding Britain’s approach to making rewilding happen in Scotland.

As our Scotland Director you will need drive and experience but also a profound understanding of Scottish land use, rural economy, ecology and conservation politics. You will also need a good network of contacts within the range of organisations and private sector that Rewilding Britain needs to engage with in Scotland. You will need a strategic approach and an ability to bring people together and overcome sometimes deep differences.

You will report to and work closely with the Rewilding Britain Director and report into Board of Trustees meetings.

For this initial set up phase, you will be employed by Friends of the Earth on behalf of Rewilding Britain on a one-year contract. It is also Friends of the Earth’s vision is to see a restoration in the abundance of nature.

Location: Scotland (negotiable)
Pay: £44,737/year depending on experience
Term: Full time, one year fixed term contract. Part-time considered.
Closing date: Tuesday, September 1, 2015, 8am
