Plans for an over $350 million dollar makeover of East Michigan Avenue took a big step forward Monday night after City Council voted unanimously to approve the revitalization of two properties.
Council members approved a Valdosta, Georgia-based company’s $77 million, nine-story mixed-used project called SkyVue that will be built at the former Story Olds site.
Council members also approved plans for Feldman’s Bud Kouts Chevrolet to spend $3.5 million to redevelop its dealership that also sits on East Michigan Avenue. The dealership will demolish three older buildings and build a new 11,950-square-foot body and paint shop.
SkyVue and Feldman’s Bud Kouts Chevrolet are projects tied to the transformation of a one-mile stretch of Michigan Avenue running up to the city’s border with East Lansing.
There is also a $276 million mixed use project called Red Cedar Renaissance proposed at the former Red Cedar Golf Course that sits along Michigan Avenue.
