The design phase for Apple Valley Brookhaven, an adaptive reuse project in Brookhaven’s (Georgia) Industrial District, is complete.
Originally constructed in 1961, the former BagCraft/Papercon plant sat vacant for a number of years.
But now, the building is being given a breath of new life as it is being converted to corporate loft office space for tenants, with a potential for restaurant tenants as well.
With environmental issues mitigated, a portion of the 82,638 SF structure will be reduced by 12,000 SF to make way for a courtyard, outdoor mezzanine, and landscaping.
Stream Realty Partners, who focuses on the renovation of abandoned warehouses, is the developer for the project.
Joyce Fownes, Principal and Director of Interiors at Perkins + Will says they will not be seeking LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, but in restoring this site, they will be working in the context of LEED and including green space.
According to Stream’s Project Manager, Bradley Dunn, “Our team is passionate about salvaging Atlanta’s forgotten warehouses, breathing new life into these buildings, and creating something that makes the community proud.”
