Mixed-use redevelopment to transform ugly 3.5 acre parking lot in Arlington, VA

A prominent, underused site in Clarendon, (a neighborhood of Arlington County, Virginia) the longtime home of Red Top Cab, will be redeveloped with three buildings totaling 580 multifamily units and nearly 3,500 square feet of retail.

The Arlington-based Shooshan Co., with Red Top as a joint venture partner, earned Arlington County’s OK on October 20, 2015 to redevelop the 3.5-acre site on the western end of Clarendon.

The board voted unanimously to approve the plan, which will fill in a couple of gaping holes in the Clarendon neighborhood.

“This is an ambitious redevelopment that will transform the western end of Clarendon,” Arlington Board Chair Mary Hynes said in a news release.
