Moscow reconnecting to its river via pedestrianization, parks & brownfields

On August 8, 2016, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobianin announced the start of the large-scale project to reconstruct and improve the Moscow river embankments.

Sobianin told journalists, the Moscow River Program will create comfortable approaches to the river.

At present, 40 areas are being reconstructed, including Luzhniki, Zariadie, Nagatino park for children, the embankment in the area of Moscow City.

The 3-to-4-year project will transform 10 kilometers of embankment on both sides of the river.

Abandoned industrial brownfield properties will be renovated, and a pedestrian-friendly area will be created.
