I got an early look at this plan from the impressive young Planning Minister for New South Wales (NSW), Rob Stokes, in September of 2015. He spoke in Sydney at the annual conference of the NSW chapter of the Planning Institute of Australia, which I was keynoting.

Plans for building another 36,000 apartments in the next 20 years near train stations on Sydney, Australia‘s Bankstown rail line were released on October 14, 2015 by the New South Wales government.
The plan is part of NSW Premier Mike Baird government’s intention to develop another inner west corridor.
According to the new plan, “the Sydenham to Bankstown urban renewal corridor strategy,” development of dwellings will take place near Bankstown, Campsie, Canterbury, Punchbowl, and Belmore stations.
The Baird government also intends to build a new metro line by 2017 that would connect Sydenham with Chatswood through the city.
