Phase 1 of $65 million mixed-use Detroit riverfront redevelopment breaks ground

Richard Baron, a Detroit native and the chairman and CEO of St. Louis-based McCormack Baron Salazar Development Inc., the developer of the mixed-use redevelopment, said construction on the $65 million first phase is expected to be largely complete in the third quarter of 2016.

In all, the first phase is planned to have about 200 market-rate residential units and 10,000 square feet of retail space along Atwater Street and the Dequindre Cut adjacent to the new Michigan Department of Natural Resources Outdoor Adventure Center, Baron said.

Orleans Landing is the first new construction of market-rate residential units on the east riverfront in the last quarter-century, according to a news release.
