Power company volunteers help Million Trees Miami restore urban forest

Dozens of Florida Power & Light volunteers donated their time Saturday to help the Million Trees Miami Campaign.

The volunteers planted 500 seedlings in an endangered pine rockland area at Camp Matecumbe in Miami. FPL also contributed $5,000 to the campaign.

It is investments like FPL’s $5,000 donation to Million Trees Miami that will help us achieve our goal of a 30 percent tree canopy in Miami-Dade,” said Miami-Dade Commissioner Dennis Moss.

Million Trees Miami’s mission is to plant one million trees by 2020 to grow a healthy urban forest with 30 percent tree-canopy coverage for Miami-Dade County.
