President lauds restoration of Sumatra’s Musi River for regional revitalization

Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has lauded the reclamation work on Musi River in South Sumatra Province and the regreening program in the upstream area and along the river banks.

Yes, reclamation and regreening programs need to be implemented in the rivers upstream area. I call on the environmental affairs and forestry minister to follow up and include them in the maritime development program,” President Jokowi said on October 29, 2015.

The reclamation work on Musi River should be included in the sea toll development plan as it plays a crucial role in boosting regional and national economic growth, he emphasized.
