Raleigh, NC university students return to find their iconic street revitalized

The revitalization of Hillsborough Street in Raleigh, North Carolina is about to wrap up its first phase, and right as students begin to return to N.C. State University.

Developers want to turn the area into a destination that is home to lots of restaurants, businesses and entertainment.

If you’ve walked or driven down Hillsborough Street lately, you’ve noticed plenty of construction projects that has changed the nature of the area near N.C. State.

The changes are dramatic for one of Raleigh’s most iconic streets, and a place well-known by decades of Wolfpack students.

The city began redevelopment efforts a few years ago and many projects are starting to come to completion.

Hillsborough Street is having a great renaissance,” said Jeff Murison, executive director of the Hillsborough Street Community Service Corporation. “It’s really exciting to see how much growth is going on right now.
