RFP: Affordable mixed-use redevelopment of Hell’s Kitchen slaughterhouse site

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) seeks proposals from qualified developers for the long-term lease and redevelopment of the Former Slaughterhouse Site (now a surface parking lot) within the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and adjacent to the Hudson Yards Special District.

The Site is owned by the City of New York and is located at 495 11th Avenue between West 39th Street and West 40th Street in Manhattan, New York.

This Project is an opportunity to create an innovative mixed-use development that contributes to the overall quality of life in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and ensures that the growth in the area will include affordable housing.

Proposals submitted should strive for maximum housing affordability, with the goal of reaching 100% affordability, financed by other uses in the development program, such as the commercial and/or community facility uses in the Project. The residential component should include the maximum feasible number of affordable units at a variety of income bands.

Submission due date: Friday, December 11, 2015.
