RFP: Design services are wanted to revitalize 1.5 miles of disused rail corridor into nature trail and greenway in Buffalo, New York

On March 18, 2020, the Western New York Land Conservancy issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) seeking Concept and Schematic Design consulting services for the third phase of The Riverline, following a Community Vision Plan and a Design Ideas Competition.

The Riverline (www.theriverline.com) is a nature trail and greenway redevelopment initiative on the former DL&W rail corridor, running 1.5 miles from Canalside in downtown Buffalo, New York to the Buffalo River. This project will help the Land Conservancy connect a broader constituency to nature, including working class communities and communities of color, which have traditionally faced systemic barriers to access and inclusion in nature and nature-based organizations.

Funding for this project comes in part through an Environmental Protection Fund grant administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. Under Article 15A, Executive Law, the State of New York is committed to providing Minority and Women Owned Business equal opportunity to participate in State-funded projects.

The following goals have been set for this project: 13% MBE and 17% WBE. The Contractor, by bidding on the contract, acknowledges understanding and support of this policy and pledges to fully cooperate with the Western New York Land Conservancy in meeting NYS requirements as set forth in the Bidding and Contract Documents.

If you have any questions, please contact Anthony Armstrong, c/o The Western New York Land Conservancy; PO BOX 471, East Aurora, NY 14052-0471; (716) 687-1225; theriverline@wnylc.org.

The Western New York Land Conservancy has been and will continue to be an equal opportunity organization. All qualified Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) suppliers, contractors and/or businesses will be afforded equal opportunity without discrimination because of race, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual preference or Vietnam Era Veterans status.

Final Proposals Due: 5/29/2020
Finalists Selected and Contacted to Schedule Interviews: 6/12/2020
Design Team Selected and Contract Negotiations Commence: 6/26/2020
