In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh Public Schools is selling to redevelopers four of its vacant school buildings, along with 23 undeveloped acres in New Homestead, a neighborhood near Hays and Lincoln Place.
The hope is that redeveloping the school properties will help revitalization the neighborhoods. The available properties are Arlington Elementary in St. Clair, Bon Air Elementary in Bon Air, Horace Mann Elementary in Marshall-Shadeland, Belmar Elementary in Homewood.
The district wants proposals that will create “high-quality development” that regenerates nearby properties and the community in general, providing financial benefits and tax revenue to the district.
An RFP was issued on January 6, 2020 through Fourth River Development.
