RFP: Redeveloper to integrate replacement library with mixed-use (Wisconsin)

In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Public Library issued a request for proposals (RFP) on December 27, 2018. The City of Milwaukee acting through the Board of Trustees of the Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) seeks proposals from qualified firms for the development of a new Milwaukee Public Library facility to replace the Capitol Library at 3969 N 74th Street in Milwaukee.

They want a redeveloper who will integrate the new, 17,500-square-foot library with mixed-use (either apartments, condos, retail or office space.)

The RFP requests that any proposal be located within one mile of the current site. The new library would be conveyed to the city as a condominium, so the city does not have to pay property taxes to itself. The remainder of the development would be required to pay property taxes.

Interested redevelopers must respond by January 29, 2019.
