RFP: Redevelopment of historic 1912 citrus packing plant in Redlands, California

The MOD (Mutual Orange Distributors) Packinghouse has sat empty near the Krikorian Theater in Redlands, California for years, waiting patiently for a new owner.

The 18,792-square-foot building has fallen victim to some vandalism and damage over the years, but numerous potential buyers have expressed interest in purchasing the property, which is now officially up for sale.

It’s got a lot of potential,” said Mike Nelson, economic development manager for the city.

The property was formerly owned by the city’s now defunct Redevelopment Agency.

The state gave the city approval a few months ago to put the building on the market.

Because of the building’s contributions to the city’s history and downtown area, the city is accepting proposals through March 10, 2016 from potential buyers to allow city officials to select a suitable owner.
