RFP: Veterans’ housing project – Jersey City Redevelopment Agency, NJ

As part of Jersey City‘s (New Jersey) continued push to find housing for veterans and their families, the city’s Redevelopment Agency has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to create veterans housing on Ocean Avenue.

The RFP, which was announced by Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, is for a project to be located at 524-530 Ocean Ave. that will accommodate up to 21 units of rental housing.

Some of the units will be reserved for homeless veterans, while the rest will prioritize veteran households.

As a veteran myself this is important to me. Anyone who has served our country should never be jobless – or worse, without a roof over their head,” said Mayor Fulop, a former Marine who served in the Iraq War. “Providing housing and coordinated services for these veterans is a priority for our city.

Developers’ responses to the Redevelopment Agency’s RFP are due on January 8, 2016.
