Leslie Wing-Pomeroy has a big smile on her face as she reflects on her first nine months of running the East Simpson Coffee Company in Old Town Lafayette, Colorado.
“It’s been a great ride, it’s been very rewarding,” she says.
The coffee shop is in the heart of the East Simpson Street revitalization, part of a plan established by the Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority (LURA).
LURA’s purpose is to spearhead the revitalization and redevelopment in the Old Town and South Boulder Road areas.
What the community wants is a mixed-use residential and commercial development that Lafayette officials say fits local efforts to revitalize the East Simpson Street area.
“It’s really hopping,” said Lafayette city spokeswoman Debbie Wilmot. “The community is very much behind it. Everyone is supportive of the project.”
