VIDEO: Feeling like their history is going away, this small South Carolina town has launched a downtown revitalization effort

Vacant buildings and boarded up windows line Congress Street in downtown Winnsboro, South Carolina (pop. 3215).

It feels like history is going away,” lifelong resident Harold Crocker said. “These buildings have been here close to 100 years or more. Now, there’s nothing there.

Winnsboro Assistant Town Manager Chris Clauson says the town has budgeted about $200,000 toward downtown revitalization and code enforcement.

They hope to apply for additional grants, as well.
