VIDEO: Plans revealed for the redevelopment and revitalization of Sacramento, California’s historic waterfront

In Sacramento, California, Mayor Darrell Steinberg is seeking $45 million from Sacramento’s hotel tax fund in order to revitalize the Old Sacramento Waterfront.

The money would be put in the Destination Sacramento fund, which will be pitched to city council Tuesday, Steinberg said during an event Thursday.

That fund will then be used to revitalize the riverfront.

For decades, we had a lot of ideas and a lot of vision, but we had one thing missing — we’ve never had the resources to match the dreams with reality. Tonight, that changes,” Steinberg said.

Revitalization plans include a freight depot, history museum event deck, water feature, floating terrace, festival space and more.
