For the past 17 years, volunteers have come together on a Saturday morning each spring to help protect and improve Lexington, Kentucky’s environment by planting trees.
This year’s Reforest the Bluegrass will take place on Saturday, April 9 at 1960 Bryan Station Road.
Volunteers are needed between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and are welcome to come and go as they please. Participants will receive a free lunch and t-shirt.
Since 1999, more than 15,000 volunteers have restored 180 acres in Fayette County by planting approximately 128,000 native tree seedlings.
Various city departments including Environmental Services, Parks and Recreation, Waste Management, Streets and Roads and Water Quality, work with private partners to plan and sponsor the event.
Private partners include Paul Miller Ford, Kentucky American Water, Kentucky Utilities, and Lexmark.
