WANTED: Ecological restoration intern — Oakland, California

The Golden Gate Audubon Society is seeking a Restoration Intern to work at its two habitat restoration sites at Pier 94 in San Francisco and at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Regional Shoreline in Oakland.

Interns will gain experience in identifying native and invasive plants, productive planting and removal procedures, and monitoring and reporting on projects.

Position Description: The intern will receive on-the-job training for restoring valuable wetland and upland habitats in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Interns will be responsible for planning and running our two monthly work days (Pier 94 on the first Saturday of each month and MLK on the 3rd Saturday), including planning activities such as invasive weed removal and planting of native plants.

Interns will develop skills in plant identification, habitat restoration, volunteer coordination, and communication. Interns will also have opportunities to participate in Bay-wide restoration planning, education, and efforts. Other dates and sites possible in Richmond and San Francisco.

$15/hour (approximately $200/month, with potential for more hours based on performance and need). Mileage and all costs incurred during the internship will be compensated.
