WANTED: Executive Director for downtown revitalization organization (New Jersey)

The Metuchan (New Jersey) Special Improvement District (SID)–administered by the Metuchen Development Alliance (MDA)–seeks a full-time Executive Director for the Metuchan Downtown Alliance.

The MDA is well funded and supported by both municipal government and enthusiastic volunteers. It was formed in May of 2016.

In 2014, the state reopened the application process for towns and cities to join the Main Street New Jersey (MSNJ) program. MSNJ is the NJ section of the National Main Street Program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Borough of Metuchen, in consultation with the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce and the Development Commission, applied and was accepted into the program. MSNJ municipalities must commit to having a full-time downtown manager who focuses on all aspects of downtown revitalization.

The idea of forming a Metuchen downtown management entity has been discussed for thirty years. With ongoing and planned development projects coming to Metuchen, now is the time for an organization focused on professionally marketing and managing our downtown.

The successful candidate will have proven successful experience in economic revitalization, municipal and civic relations, grant writing/acquisition, corporate sponsorships, budgeting, marketing/brand management, volunteer management and event production.

Salary range: $62,000-$72,000 based on experience.
