WANTED: Executive Director for river restoration non-profit (Maryland)

The South River Federation in Edgewater, Maryland seeks an energetic and visionary leader who is passionate about the mission of the organization, which is to protect, preserve, restore, and celebrate the South River and its interdependent living community.

The Federation believes in a holistic approach to cleaning up the South River. We utilize all available tools, ranging from scientific water quality monitoring, to rain garden installation, to large-scale stream restoration, to one-on-one landowner education.

Our restoration efforts are locally-focused and are driven and informed by sound science.

In the last five years alone, we have installed over 75 restoration projects across the watershed, varying from residential raingardens to multi-million dollar stream restoration projects. Currently, we are concentrating our efforts on the most polluted creeks while continuing our work with communities on local projects.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the South River Federation’s 8 staff and programs, and management of a $3.5 million annual budget. The ED will be responsible to continue to build on successful partnerships with donors, stakeholders, partners, and funders.

Salary range is $90,000 – $110,000, depending on experience, with employer contribution to health, dental, and vision benefits.
There’s a SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer match, plus paid holiday, sick, vacation, and personal time.
