The Bronx River Alliance is seeking a Greenway Coordinator to manage the planning and implementation of the Bronx River Greenway in the Bronx and assist the Alliance’s transition to River House.
The Bronx River Alliance is a partnership of more than 100 organizations and agencies that work collaboratively to protect, improve and restore the Bronx River and develop the Bronx River Greenway. The Alliance serves as a coordinated voice for the river and works with its partners to ensure that the river corridor will be a healthy ecological, recreational, educational and economic resource for Bronx communities.
The Alliance works to create a continuous greenway—a linear park and trail system—along the river’s 8-mile length in the Bronx. The various capital projects that constitute the greenway in the Bronx are being implemented by the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, the NYC and NYS Departments of Transportation, with funding from City, State, and Federal sources. The Greenway Coordinator works closely with these agencies and other partner organizations to ensure projects are implemented in a timely manner and with full community involvement. The projects are now at various stages of design and construction; most are scheduled to start construction in the next couple of years.
The Bronx River Greenway Coordinator is responsible for inter-agency and community coordination for greenway capital design, planning and construction projects. The Coordinator will report to the Director of Programs, and will work closely with other Alliance staff to integrate the Alliance principles into the
implementation of the greenway.
