WANTED: (newly-created position) Programme Manager – Town Regeneration & Resilience – Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England

The Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England seeks a Programme Manager – Town Regeneration & Resilience.

This exciting new role, based in the Business and Skills Service, will play a key role in the delivery of the Council’s Inclusive Economy Strategy and Vision 2024, co-ordinating a new and transformational programme of activity and investment in town and high street regeneration across the borough, improving the resilience and sustainability of our places and communities, enabling the economy to grow and helping our residents to live a larger life.

Our Inclusive Economy Strategy is a key part of our partnership approach to delivering these aspirations and meeting the challenges of the 21st Century. As a Council we have also set ourselves the ambition to be the Small Business Capital in the North.

The Council has secured places on the Future High Streets programme for Halifax and Elland, and Todmorden and Brighouse have been selected for the new Towns Fund programme. We are also progressing a Heritage High Streets bid for Sowerby Bridge. The post holder will work with colleagues, Elected Members and our Town Boards plus a range of local businesses and community organisations, regional and national partners and agencies to ensure that plans are in place and being delivered for the future resilience of all our towns. Plans will focus on physical regeneration, business and skills development, connectivity and the cultural offer.

We are looking for an individual with a comprehensive understanding of the threats and opportunities for town economies, strong strategic planning and partnership working skills, experience of developing positive relationships with businesses and community organisations and significant experience of developing and driving the delivery of regeneration programmes that are in the public eye and under political and financial pressures. Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills will be essential.

Salary: £39,782 – £42,683 per annum
