Fairfax County, Virginia seeks an Urban Designer/Revitalization Program Manager, who will work as part of the Office of Community Revitalization managing the county’s commercial revitalization and reinvestment initiatives such as creating and implementing streetscape plans and design guidelines; preparation of building massing studies and conceptual master plans; development review, revitalization districts, and comprehensive planning.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Facilitates, promotes, and coordinates revitalization projects, programs and initiatives in assigned areas;
- Assists the community in developing and implementing visions for their areas, and participates in the review of zoning and site plan applications, special studies, Comprehensive Plan amendments, capital improvement projects and public-private partnerships;
- May prepare urban design guidelines, develop conceptual plans, and complete critical review of urban design component of land use submissions. May foster economic development, identifying targets of opportunity for redevelopment and reinvestment, community engagement and other aspects of planning, and revitalization and redevelopment projects;
- Assists in the general administration of the revitalization program;
- Works closely with area revitalization groups, land owners, developers, and public officials;
- Coordinates closely with other county departments;
- Represents the office with the public, before the Board of Supervisors, and with federal, state and local agencies.
