Grand Bank, Newfoundland to revitalize historic downtown and waterfront

The initial steps are being taken in what is hoped will result in a rejuvenation of Grand Bank, Newfoundland’s waterfront and downtown core.

Mayor Rex Matthews says the town would like to see significant upgrades that would make the area more presentable. “We have a lot of buildings that need a bit of work,” he said.

Matthews said the project had recently been discussed with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

We have a concept in mind of how our waterfront and our downtown core should be revitalized. We’re looking to develop a proposal that we can put out to tender to see exactly what can be done for that particular area of our community,” he said.
