WANTED: Director of Development of harbor revitalization non-profit (MA)

Boston Harbor Now seeks a Director of Development for its Boston, Massachusetts headquarters office.

Reporting to the CEO/President, the Director of Development is responsible for the design, leadership and implementation of all aspects of this exciting new civic organization’s development work, including membership and major giving programs, annual giving, events, corporate sponsorships, grants and capital campaigns. Applicants should have at least seven years of proven and direct experience in non profit resource development, thorough knowledge of fund raising best practices, and experience setting up the necessary systems to support a multi-channel fundraising operation.

Experience designing and executing strategic fundraising plans, a relationship building orientation, and strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast moving and growth oriented environment, and is excited by the prospect of working with the CEO and the Board to double the organization’s budget over the next three years. The position is full time with a competitive salary and benefits. The candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Boston Harbor Now is a newly-created civic organization focused on integrating Boston Harbor, its waterfront and its islands into the fabric of Boston and our region.

Boston Harbor Now is the result of a merger of two key players in the transformation of Boston Harbor—Boston Harbor Island Alliance and The Boston Harbor Association—and builds on their combined 60 years of experience working to clean up Boston Harbor, revitalize and promote access to the waterfront, and establish and activate the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park.
